No restaurant survives, or indeed thrives, for 25 years unless there’s commitment to quality, dedication to hard work – and a whole lot of love. And all those elements are in abundance at the luxurious Lake House, where diners are taken on a gastronomic journey thanks to a seasonal and locally inspired menu. With a glass of Champagne in hand, overlooking the lake, enjoy the excellent service and a menu featuring raw kingfish with Asian-influenced scallop dumplings and an aromatic ginger-seafood broth that just slightly cooks the fish. Free-range pork is served three ways – an agnolotto filled with finely chopped and intensely flavoured braised pork, poached belly pan-fried crisp, and discs of pink loin with a fennel and apple salad. Finish with a caramel poached pear served with cubes of ginger-flavoured pain perdu, roast pear sorbet and ginger jellies. It’s stunning.
