Ristorante Fellini

Named for the kooky champion of Italian cinema, this Gold Coast restaurant attracts its own mix of movie types from nearby Warner Bros Movie World, drawn by chef Richard Burt’s Neapolitan and Tuscan classics. They may also be tempted by the prices, with the six-course dégustation menus offering great value. Timballo di granchio, spanner crabmeat with diced avocado and tomato, is a fresh, sunny dish, while the braised ox tongue – small, finely sliced rounds of tongue beneath a piquant sauce of parsley, garlic, capers, egg, olive oil and pepper is offaltastic. Roast veal tenderloin is rolled with sautéed wild mushrooms, wrapped in pancetta and served with spinach and truffle cream – poetry on a plate. Service is smooth and the wine list, drawn from the far-flung corners of the globe, goes on forever, as do the shimmering views across Southport Broadwater.
