Sourcedining

Modern Australian

664 Dean St, Albury, NSW
T (02) 6041 1288
A light in Albury’s culinary darkness, Sourcedining combines personable service, a comfortable carpeted dining room and a smart, compact wine list with deft and interesting cooking from chef Jodie Jones. The artfully plated food is intricate without being overly tricky and there is as much attention paid to texture as to flavour. Wonderfully light gnocchi are combined with crushed almonds, tiny sprigs of broccolini and Valdeón cheese, while a sticky, unctuous shoulder of goat shares a plate with a chickpea and parsley salad and garlic cream. Sometimes there is too much going on – a good Murray Cod fillet teamed with Hunter Valley snails marred by truffle oil, for example – but desserts such as a spiced apple salad are a model of well-balanced restraint. Lunch times are a relatively casual affair with unclothed tables and a shortened menu, while dinner offers Albury’s only version of a true fine diner.
