2009 Australian
Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards

Travel Awards 2009 Vote
Voting is now over for the 2009 Travel Awards. Check back soon for the results!

The Gourmet Traveller Travel Awards, now in their third year and sponsored by Nespresso, are a unique celebration of the diversity and quality of our home-grown tourism heroes. The awards are intended as a tribute to the finest operators in this country, whether they are showing us the outback through Aboriginal eyes, as 2008 category winner Anangu Waai does at Uluru, or providing the ultimate revitalising experience, as 2008 winner Lake House & Salus Spa does in Daylesford, Victoria [see the full list of last year's winners here].

Unlike other national travel awards, Gourmet Traveller’s award winners are not decided solely by industry experts or by members of the public. Instead, we draw on the knowledge of both camps to get the broadest perspective possible.

Our expert panel comprises dozens of travel writers, editors, photographers, itinerant TV types and industry heavyweights. They nominate their favourite new and enduring Australian holiday experiences and we use those nominations to compile a high-calibre shortlist in each award class. Then we throw open the process to you, our well-travelled readers, and ask you to decide which attractions deserve to win in categories as diverse as Best Small Luxury Hotel and Best Indigenous Tourism Experience.

Now it’s time to tell us, and your fellow readers, who and what you rate as the best travel experiences in Australia and further afield. Online voting goes live from 26 March until midnight 3 May, so gather your recommendations now. You can also tune in to Australia’s favourite travel show, Getaway, which will again be supporting the awards in 2009. Thanks to them, and again to Nespresso. Winners will be announced in our June issue.

While casting your votes, don’t forget to tell us your favourite Australian destination for 2009 and you could be in the running to win a fabulous trip for two from Sydney to Paris, flying Club World with key awards partner British Airways.
